When you arrive in Belgium, you are entitled specific administrative formalities as follows:
- To register with the population service at the commune
- your currently valid identity card or national passport
- an employer’s certificate (type Annexe 19 a), or your employment contract
- If you are married: proof of your marital status (marriage licence, for example)
- 2 recent identity photos in apassport format
- birth certificates of your children
- your currently valid identity card or national passport
- a certificate of school/university registration
- a certificate of health care cover
- 2 recent identity photos in a passport format
- your currently valid identity card or national passport
- proof of the family relationship with the foreign person in your family settled in the commune
- 2 recent identity pictures in a passport format
- your currently valid national passport, provided with a type D VISA
- your work permit or professional card
- If you are married: proof of your marital status (translated and authenticated)
- 4 recent identity photos in a passport format
- your currently valid national passport, provided with a type D VISA
- a certificate of enrolment in school/university
- a certificate of cover or scholarship certificate
- 4 recent identity photos in a passport format
- your currently valid national passport, provided with a type D VISA
- proof of the family relationship with the foreign person in your family settled in the commune (translated and authenticated)
- 4 recent identity photos in a passport format
- Other steps:
- To open a bank account
- To register with social security (via Partenamut)
- To choose for a car insurance (compulsory)
- To choose for a home insurance (compulsory)
- To request for a resident card if necessary (paid parking)
- To register your car in Belgium
- Do not forget to close your taxes in your country of origin
- Do not forget to forward your mails from your country of origin
- To register with the embassy of your country in Belgium
